Emerging Media Morning Forum
Practical Application of Social Influence Marketing

Tuesday, November 23, 2010. 8:30 to 10:00AM

Social media has changed the way marketing practitioners influence audiences and has blurred the traditional lines between marketing disciplines. As the lines continue to blur to the point of being unrecognizable the best media choice is not as obvious as it was last year, month or week.

One of the major transformations brought about by the social web is the emergence of tribes i .e “communities of people that develop content and connect around passions and centers of expertise”. These tribes include mommy bloggers, IT experts, specialized business groups, functional business categories (e.g., marketing), and hundreds of others, all of which represent major opportunities for marketers.

The presentation will explain the general concepts around using social media to connect and engage with tribes. It will highlight use cases from Adobe and Alcatel, how marketers can radically improve the efficiency of content marketing, blogger outreach, and building communities by placing communities and influencers at the core of digital and social marketing initiatives.
